Google Business Profile verification

Google Business verification code not received

A missing code is frustrating, but asking for new codes again and again usually makes it worse. Here is what Google says, and what to check first.

Postcard codes

  • Google says most postcard codes arrive within 14 days, and codes expire after 30 days.
  • Requesting a new code cancels the one already in the mail. Wait the full 14 days before you ask again.
  • Do not edit the business name, address, or category while you wait. If you do, the code in the mail stops working.
  • Check the mailing address carefully: suite or unit number, the exact street spelling, and a mailbox labeled with the business name.

Phone and text codes

  • The number must reach a person or a phone that can get texts. Google says phone trees (IVR systems) won't get the code.
  • Call-tracking and forwarding numbers often fail. Use the direct business line.
  • Answer calls from unknown numbers while you wait, and check that texts from short codes are not blocked.

If no code ever comes

  • Look for another method on the profile. If video is offered, Google recommends it.
  • Keep the profile details unchanged so the next try starts clean.
  • If nothing works after you have tried the methods you have, contact Google support with your business name, address, and what you tried.
  • Never share a verification code with anyone. Google says it will never ask you for it.
